FOUNDATION

Prep students have settled into school really well now and they are getting more organised with their daily routines. We will be striving to see all our students “improve and build abilities” so they become “confident and motivated lifelong learners.”

In Literacy, we looked at reading sight words and writing about our weekends (i.e. recounts). We will work on writing more recounts for this term. We will also continue to focus on correct formations of letters of the alphabet, alphabet- sound knowledge, word and sentence structures, writing goals including finger spaces and full stops. Please revise the magic words every night. New words will be sent home when your child can confidently read their current list.

During Maths, we have been counting backwards from 20 and writing numbers from 1-100. We also looked at completing the sequence of numbers from any given point and did some oral and written practices of skip counting by 2’s and 10’s.

Foundation students have been learning throwing and catching skills during P.E. sessions. They have also spent time getting their hands dirty by planting veggies in our class vegie patch. Our veggie patch will provide opportunities for the children to plant, care for and harvest a range of seasonal vegetables.

Reminders:

All homework including the online ‘Reading Eggs’ and ‘Mathletics’ tasks must be completed each week.

Please continue to support your child by reading with them daily and commenting in the yellow Reading Journal.
